When commencing this project, the front yard of this Spanish Mission style house in St Kilda contained an enormous Canary Island Palm and not much else except crushed gravel. The design of the new garden uses the large palm as its main feature and extends the grand style of the house out into the landscape with curved pathways of crazy pave stone interplanted with groundcovers and a lush lawn surrounded by verdant plants and additional smaller palms.

The owners’ own style influences and ideas were also integrated into the design including the resolution of the driveway into contrasting large random concrete slabs – also interplanted with groundcovers. Construction of the new garden was completed in June 2022 and the owners love the new front yard saying that the place now feels “settled”. Photos of the finished garden will be uploaded in the coming months.
