Officer District Park is a 10-hectare adventure and nature park located on Lansell Ave, Officer. Designed in collaboration with Cardinia Shire and the local community. Papworth design has been involved in the concept stage, through to construction with stage one set to be complete in early 2025.
The park is located on a site of a large pastural hill, sitting as a focal point in the landscape for the surrounding region. The design plays upon the natural landforms of the site, embracing and celebrating its steepness while also molding the land in key locations to enable universal access throughout.
The playscape caters to a broad spectrum of ages and abilities, allowing children to have choice in their play experience. The lower levels provide a relaxed, natural play atmosphere for younger children. Moving up the slope, the play becomes progressively more adventurous for older children, with rock climbing, rope courses and large hill slides providing a physical challenge.
Other notable features of the park include a range of interactive spaces, including fitness stations, a universal access walking trail to the hills summit, a parkour zone, a one-kilometer running loop, off-lead dog areas, picnic facilities, and a wetland area.
